Welcome Studio Students!
Thank you for signing up for classes at The Studio of The Corning Museum of Glass. Whether this is your first class or your 50th, we hope you will enjoy your experience and gain a deeper understanding of the material in our state-of-the-art facility. To make your transition as easy as possible, we’ve compiled some important information to help you get oriented.
We have many terrific activities planned, including tours of the Museum's collection, lots of practice time and other special events. Our schedule has been altered to stay COVID safe and will continue to evolve as needed.
The Studio requires that all students, instructors, and teaching assistants participating in on-site winter classes must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Our staff will be wearing masks as required by the Museum. Masks are strongly encouraged and will be required for some programming. Our health and safety protocol is subject to change. Our health and safety page can be found here. If we need to cancel a winter class, we will issue a full refund, minus the application fee. We recommend you make accommodations that are flexible.
When You Arrive
If you are participating in our Room & Board Plan, an official welcome packet will be waiting for you at the hotel, including dinner meal cards to be used at participating restaurants in Corning.
Please join us at the Museum’s Café at 7 pm for an informal Sunday night dinner the night before your class starts. This dinner is included in our Room & Board plan, but everyone is welcome ($18 fee payable the next day if you are not on the plan).
Your class orientation will take place at 8:30 am on your first day of class, in The Studio Lecture Room. You will receive your class schedule when you arrive Monday.
The Studio will supply glass and tools during your class, but if there are specific colors, etc. you would like to bring, please feel free.
Studio Rules and Safety
Your safety is of the utmost importance at The Studio. Please review the rules and safety sections of our Welcome Packet to familiarize yourself with best practices before you arrive.
A full list of rules and safety best practices for each workshop will be supplied in your student packet.
Want to give back? Support The Studio's scholarship & Residency Programs
The Studio conducts an annual Holiday Glass Sale to help support our scholarship and residency fund. The generosity of artists who have taught and taken classes at The Studio make this event a success year after year. You can participate either by fully donating work or by sharing the profits of your sales.
